Be Observant

Jesus said to his disciples: "See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves."  Matthew 10:16.  Even in our efforts to be a place of sanctuary and a House of Hope, we're often reminded that all of us live as humans on this earth - amongst real human problems and concerns. As a point of awareness, not alarm, we'd like you to know that some churches in our area have been visited by individuals who have caused some concerns on Sunday mornings. Some churches have had money taken from the congregation and from individuals while worship was in progress. In addition, some congregations have had repeat visitors who have not attended worship but "panhandled" both inside and outside of their buildings. While we continue to be a church that Reaches Out in the Name of Jesus Christ, we also want to be observant when these occasions might occur - allowing our staff to give assistance to individuals in honest and open ways.  If you see something or encounter someone who you are concerned about, please bring it to the attention of one of First Lutheran's staff or Pastor Amy.
