Commissioners update for October 2015

October 10 and 11, 2015 were special days for Spirit Lutheran.

On Saturday, Matt Olson and Megan Carlson were married at 3 p.m. at Oxford Ave.; Matt grew up at Our Savior's and Megan at First. On that beautiful afternoon they became man and wife as well as a representation of our union as Spirit Lutheran. God's blessings to Matt and Megan!

After much preparation the Commissioners presented information at the combined Spirit Lutheran Congregational meeting on October 11. We had a terrific turnout. To recap the topics and the voting results:
• Spirit Constitution and By-laws - Approved by voice vote.
• Election of Council Members - Approved by 99.49%.
• Budget - Approved by voice vote.
• Pastor Amy's one year call as Spirit Pastor - Approved by 97%.

There was a vote by First Lutheran members on the sale of the Oxford Ave. location that was approved by 98%.

Some of the matters on which we will be working include combining our facilities while searching for a permanent location. Also, we look forward to beginning with WalkAlong Consultants to determine who Spirit is and where we are going.

We Commissioners are grateful for all the support we have received and for so many of you who ask, "How can I help?"

Here is YOUR chance! Spirit needs everyone to consider serving on committees and in other groups. There are a number of groups forming, so please give of your time and talents. Whether it is on Facilities, Mission and Outreach or Faith Formation Committees, singing in the choir, or participating in the Worship Team by singing, playing an instrument, or operating computers and AV gear, all are welcome!

We also encourage you to consider a gift to "A Bridge to the Future - Closing the Gap" campaign. And, as always, please continue to pray for Spirit Lutheran.
