Commissioners' Update - August 30, 2015

Here are the highlights of the work your Commissioners are doing:

Spirit Lutheran has been incorporated with the State of Wisconsin, and we are beginning the preparation of the actual Consolidation Agreement. We've drafted our Constitution and By-Laws, and the Synod office has approved them. Both of these items will be available for review at our informational meeting on October 4 so that we can then take action on them at our congregational meeting on October 11. Stayed tuned for announcements about this October 11 meeting.

The Finance Committee is continuing to review the steps necessary to combine our accounts and the timing of the same. As you can imagine, there are many items to consider as we move toward the consolidation. The Finance Committee is very busy.

For now, congregation members are reminded to continue to address your weekly contributions to your respective church. We will give everyone plenty of notice as to when this will change.

Facilities continue to be our number one question. Although we know that people are wondering where we are going to worship, it is still too early to have a recommendation. We hope to be able to have a thorough update on our options at our October 4 and October 11 meetings. This is a big decision, and one that the Commissioners are not taking lightly. In the meantime, worship will continue at both locations.

Our Worship Committee is making progress in crafting a worship schedule which will provide consistency in locations and times.

The Commissioners interviewed six consulting firms and are pleased to announce we will be engaging with Walkalong Consulting to lead all of us through a strategic planning process for Spirit Lutheran. We certainly hope that you as members will get involved in determining Spirit Lutheran's purpose and goals.

Our Human Resources Committee has made much progress regarding a staffing plan to best serve the needs of Spirit Lutheran.

Our Stewardship Committee is working on a campaign called "A Bridge to the Future, Closing the Cap". More will be coming out over the next couple of weeks about the purpose and goals of this campaign.

We hope that by sharing updates in Spirit Lutheran's newsletter every other week, along with verbal updates at joint worship services, we are doing a better job in keeping you all up to date. I can assure you as we continue this path of consolidation the Commissioners are continuing to make decisions with one goal in mind: do what's right for Spirit Lutheran.

If you should ever have any questions or comments, please feel to approach any of the Commissioners. We are here to serve you.

Dan Market, Commissioner
